Aerial Sailors Once upon a time... in 1874, a man named Henri Beudet arrived in Prague. A Frenchman, a balloonist, part visionary and part acrobat. He brought with him a massive hot air balloon – over a thousand cubic meters of air! He took off from the Royal Garden, where he built a special furnace because his balloon didn’t have its own heating system. And beneath this balloon, suspended on a horizontal bar, he performed acrobatics. At a height where one can no longer rely solely on solid ground beneath their feet... This historical curiosity inspired the new circus project Aerial Sailors – a performance for two acrobats and one real pilot, taking place outdoors. Together, they explore what the body can express both in the air and on the ground. How high one can climb, what can be seen from above, and what the world looks like when experienced upside down – both literally and figuratively. Aerial Sailors is an invitation to explore space – both that which lies beneath our feet and that which floats above us.
