- Tin Pavlič, nagrajeni scenarist in kipar ENGLISH: "Monkey Business – despite the misleading name – consists of entirely human members. The bassist comes from the land where the Ljubljanica River flows, while the drummer and keyboardist hail from the region where *cviček* (or "cvajzel," as they affectionately call it) flows – that is, from the direction of Dolenjska. The frontman originates from a place where tears of laughter and ordinary tears of special sorrow flow – both of which are reflected in their songs, which masterfully intertwine mischievousness and deep emotional states, humor and sorrow, Laško and Union. If the world of business deals is dry, the musical affairs of Monkey Business are anything but. This becomes clear the moment you step into any multinational corporation – or on a Friday evening at Metelkova, where the Monkeys set the place on fire (this comment carries no political connotation). The fact that the Monkeys are not dry is also evident from this wall of text describing their genre orientation: *prog-folk-alternative-folk-pop-post-pop*. And though they can joke at their own expense, it’s quickly clear that they’re not just messing around – their music is thoughtful, sincere, and technically refined. In their songs, they play with fun, sometimes pleasantly dreamy melodies that can instantly transform into punchy rhythmic sections that won’t let the audience stay still. Over this rich palette of instrumental constructs, they generously pour lyrics that touch on themes such as: beekeeping, growing up, who owns Trieste, the seasons, the emotional agony of breakups, general sorrow and world-weariness, as well as emotional euphoria when love life is going so well that the singer decides he no longer even needs a jaw. They do all this with a charmingly humorous stage presence, where you might also hear a joke that would make many a girl pity them. Monkey Business is a unique, fresh band that doesn’t arrogantly flaunt its musical *suave*." - Tin Pavlič, award winning playwright and sculptor
