Some years ago, a tropical cumbiadelic thunderstorm crossed trough a small bar called „La Meskla“ in the austrian town of Graz. It was cold outside, but sweat was dripping from the windows, people were heavily shaking their bones when La Cumbestia was born. Founded by austrian singer and guitarist Marko „El Flaco“ Jandl & Friends, the band emerged with the fresh, groovy sound of Cumbia blended with other styles such as reggae, dub, funk and latin. In a continuous journey they melt driving tropical rhythms with flowering, oriental-scented clarinet hooks and the chant of Colombia and Peru. After some small club gigs and several festivals, where the band made the crowd dance and sweat with no mercy, La Cumbestia is now - with their actual crew from Argentina, Mexico, Turkey and Austria - working on their new album.
